LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! - How to succeed in the movie business?

Are you ready to make the final cut? Being a successful actor for a movie or a television show requires a lot of patience, hard work and constant effort of testing yourself in different scenarios. In this generation, with all the glamour, glitz, paparazzi, and fame, every other aspiring actor wants to make it to the movies and be successful. All this is very overwhelming. But there are few questions that you should be asking yourself, ‘Do I know the nitty gritty of this business?’, ‘Am I capable of taking the brunt and accepting rejection?’ To sail smoothly through the movie acting business, here’s what you need to do.

Basic Guidelines:
1.       Prepare your portfolio: You need to have a portfolio covering your basic information, personal information and with some of your best headshots different from the regular portraits in the portfolio.
2.       Learning monologues: You need to memorize few monologues and be prepared. Make sure you have memorized 3 to 4 distinctive monologues that show your capability as an actor.
3.       Make a demo CD: It is better to have a CD made with your monologue videotaped and make few copies of the CD. Few casting companies and casting directors might ask for them, and it is better to stay prepared.
4.       Making connections: Next important thing to do is to make connections with the casting directors and casting agencies. You need to make an impression with the casting directors. Introduce yourself to people who are related to the movie business.
5.       Keep an eye for all the upcoming movie auditions: You need to keep an eye for all the upcoming auditions constantly. The basic and simple thing you can do is doing a Google search and finding out about the nearby auditions.
6.       Target Metro cities: You need to research different movie auditions in Delhi and Mumbai. Most of the talent agencies, production houses, and casting agencies are based in the Metro cities in India. So you might need to travel to these places.
